Tryouts begin: 
Track Meets typically start at (or around) 5:00

Important Information: 

  • Physicals: Any athlete interested in trying out for a middle school sport must have a sports physical dated after May 1, 2019.  Download Physical Exam form here 
  • Concussion Training also needs to be completed for tryouts. If you have attended the training before then all you need to do is complete the online portion.
  • You can find additional times for concussion training here.
  • Please Make Sure you have your Concussion and Physical Form Ready to go and your updated physical form signed by a doctor for tryouts!!!
  • Form can NOT be more than ONE year old. 

Try-outs are Aug 27-29 from 3-5

First Aid & Nutrition

The Achieves grant that made it possible for us to have an athletic trainer has also been working on getting important information about the health and well-being of student-athletes to the community. Please find their newsletters on First Aid & Nutrition at the bottom of this page under Files.

Intro:
It's almost here, only a few more days until try-outs begin, are you ready? Try-outs begin on August 28 after school from 3:15-4:45 and will continue through August 31.

Important this year:
No physicals or concussion training cards will be excepted on the day of try-outs. All paper work needs to be turned in at least one day prior to try-outs. Anyone who brings their paper work to the first day of try-outs will not be allowed to participate, but will still be allotted a 3-day try-out period. 

How to make the team:
At try-outs we typically have anywhere from 50-70 girls try-out for 30-35 roster spots. On day 1 of try-outs we run the 55m & 100m dashes. Day 2 we re-run the 100m and then move on to the 200m. On day 3 we re-run the 55m & then get times in the 400m. Additionally, any athlete interested in running distance for the team (800 & 1600) will do the mile run on the 3rd day of try-outs. While I am well aware that some athletes are better in certain events than others, we encourage everyone to "try-out" in every running event. After the 3rd try-out day we will announce the girls who made "first-cuts," the fastest athletes at try-outs, usually anywhere between 15-20 runners. We will then hold a 4th try-out day, giving everyone one last day and opportunity to make the team. 

Finally:
Please do not wait until August 28 to start training for the track season. We are a competitive team and we work very hard every day. Since the season is so short we do not have time to work our way into shape, we hit the ground running, literally! Proper nutrition and hydration is important to ensure you're in the best shape possible for the track season so take care of yourselves this summer.
