The Governor of Virginia has just announced that schools will remain closed for the rest of this school year.  While we work to figure out just what this will look like for our students, please go to the Useful Links tab to see the educational sites that PWCS has compiled.

Within the next several days, after receiving directions from our administrators, I will being posting things here.  Stay tuned for some fun learning!!!

Stay safe and healthy!
Hello Amazing Families!!!

I am so glad we have a way to communicate during this interesting time.  I hope everyone is healthy and safe!  I KNOW your children might be getting stir-crazy, (if they are anything like mine).  In the "Useful Inks" tab on the left hand side of this page, I will be adding links to several different sites that your children may enjoy going to online.

Within the next several days, I will be creating some fun activities for the students to do IF THEY WANT TO.  These activities will be on our Google Classroom pages.  If your child is unable to get onto his/her Google Classroom account, please let me know.  I will send you new login information for them.

We are supposed to upload the Target Calendars showing what we HAVE ALREADY covered in class so the students can review if they'd like.  As you may know, I was out the week before schools were closed and my Target Calendars are on a Flash Drive nice and safe in my classroom.   So, I will list the topics we have covered so far this year.  I will upload as many review activities as I can find onto our Google Classroom site.

Here are the units we have covered:
Geography:  All 7 continents and 5 oceans
Regions of the United States
Native Americans, where they lived, what the environment was like there and what resources they had.  Specifically the Inuit, Kwakiutl, Pueblo, Iroquois, and Lakota.
Early America:  Colonists, Relations with native Americans, Diseases
Colonies: 3 Colonial regions, (New England, MidAtlantic and Southern), their interdependence, the 13 colonies, jobs and roles of people
Revolution:  Reasons the Colonists were dissatisfied, Important Battles, Declaration of Independence, Important people
The Articles of Confederation:  What they were and what their weaknesses were.

I would LOVE to hear from your and/or your child.  Please email me and tell me what you are doing during this closure.  Send me a video of someone singing.  Maybe I will set up a place in Google Classrooms to upload APPROPRIATE videos.

I hope, like Mickey Mouse, to "See you Real Soon."
