Attendance Information

• When a student will be absent, notification should be provided to the school before, or at the start of, the school day when possible.
• To excuse an absence, written or electronic communication citing the reason(s) for the absence must be provided to the school no more than five school days following the date of the absence. 

How to report an absence

Please be advised that vacations should be scheduled during the many breaks though-out the school year or over summer break. If your student is absent due to a doctor/dental/therapy/PT/OT/etc. appointment, we ask that you bring in a note from the provider upon your student's return to school. If you take your student to the doctor when they are absent do to being sick, it's always a good idea to provide a doctor's note upon returning to school. If your student misses 10 or more days of school, excused or unexcused, a formal letter will be sent home and a doctor's note will be required to excuse any further absences.

Student Absences:

When your child is absent we require a note from a parent.  An absence of 3 or more consecutive days requires a note from your doctor.  After your student has had 10 total absences for the year a doctor note is always required for any absence.  

• Students who are not in their classroom/first period by 8:15 a.m. will be marked tardy.
• Students who are not in their classroom by the start of each class period throughout the say will be marked tardy.
• A student's tardy will be recorded as excused or unexcused based on whether the reason for the late arrival meets the excused or unexcused absence criteria outlined in the PWCS Attendance Guidelines.

How to report an excused tardy

• No early dismissal of students will be allowed after 2:30 p.m.
• A note signed by the parent or legal guardian must be presented to the front office in the morning. At that time, the student will be given a pass to come to the office at the time designated.  A student will not be released from class until a parent or approved emergency contact has presented a photo ID and signed the student out in the office. All appointments will require a doctor’s note in order to be excused.
