Frequently Asked Questions

  1. When are tryouts?

Tryouts are after school from 3-5 p.m. and can last anywhere from 3-5 days, depending on the sport/coach.  Students should listen to morning and afternoon announcements to hear dates.

  2. What does my child need in order to try-out for a sport?

Every PWC student is required to have a current sport physical (dated after May 1, 2021) and a concussion training prior to try-outs. Additionally, no paperwork will be accepted the day of tryouts, athletes must have their paperwork submitted to the athletic director 24 hours before try outs.

**Fall sports participants may turn in paperwork since they begin the 2nd day of school. However, physicals and concussion trainings must be into the AD before 1 p.m.

  3. Do I have to attend all 3 days of try-outs?

While it is not required to attend all 3 days, it is very much encouraged.

  4. What time do games begin?

Each sport is a little different, for example wrestlers must weigh-in prior to every match and generally start later than other sports, and all start times are contingent on the other school's arrival time as well as the officials. However, athletic contests generally begin around 4:45 p.m.

  5. How much does it cost to attend games?

The price of admission for adults is $3 and $1 for students. Senior citizens, PWCS employees, and young children get in for free.

  6. Is there transportation to and from for away games?

Yes, athletes will ride to each contest on the team bus (buses typically leave Saunders by 4:15 p.m.) and can take the bus back to school after the game. However, parents/guardians may only sign-out their child.

  7. Can parents attend try-outs?

Tryouts are closed for all sports except track, soccer, baseball, and wrestling.
