Are you interested in broadcasting, video production, or digital design? The Saunders Audio/Video (A/V) Club is looking for creative and motivated Spartans to join and help grow our school’s student production crew. Our primary goal is to continue developing the Spartan Nation Newscast into a meaningful part of the Saunders school day—one that is entirely student-driven and student-managed. As the program grows, members will also explore additional projects, including creating digital content and covering school events.
Skills You’ll Learn
Students will gain hands-on experience with:
- Black Magic ATEM Software Control – for video and audio switching
- Canva – for graphic design and visual storytelling
- Zoom – for sharing the newscast with classrooms
- YouTube – for publishing and sharing content with the world
Roles & Responsibilities
Club members will rotate through and learn a variety of roles, including:
- Anchors – Present the news on camera
- Directors – Manage the production flow
- Production Crew – Handle cameras, sound, and editing
- Graphic Designers – Create visuals and overlays
- Writers – Develop scripts and segment ideas
Who Can Join?
- 8th graders can join during Quarter 1 & 2
- 7th graders can join during Quarter 3 & 4
- 6th graders can join during Quarter 4
Meeting Times
Our club is a little bit different – The Spartan Newscast produces a live broadcast every morning, so we will meet every school day. We’ll start at 7:50 with the goal of putting out an 8:25 Broadcast. Students arriving at school after 7:50 should report as soon as possible. We will also need to meet occasionally on Wednesdays after school from 3-5pm. After school activity buses are available for students who have Saunders as a base school.
